Thread regarding Optum layoffs

How many people actually got redeployed after May 2??

Just curious on how many people actually got redeployed into new positions after the May 2 layoffs? Did you find their talents meetings/calls to really be helpful? Or was it all a joke to make them look better?

I'll tell ya - if I were in that "redeployment" I would NOT want to look for an internal role. Why bother... it's just a game. Let me tell ya, it is so much healthier outside of that company, it's like night and day.

Do yourself a favor, pick yourself up, dust yourself off and look outside, there is a whole other world to discover and you will be much healthier, more appreciated, and you will be better off in the long run. It's painful but so worth it. Don't let this mess get the best of you, it's not your fault. It's a blessing to get out.

No redeployment at all. The "Benefits" company called about 53 million times to have me set up with "resources" but I already have a new job and no interest... I finally got them to stop calling when I told them I had a job, I wasn't interested in starting my own business, and that I appreciate it and all...but leave me alone and stop calling me at 7:30 am everyday. I would like to enjoy my "summer vacation" before my new job starts. 'kay? Bye?

Thanks UHG for the 3 month bonus pay, a month vacation, and for whatever that benefits resources team thing is- but I don't need ya.

Redeployment is a total myth/lip service. Happens for 1 out of every 100k laid off.

I got two recommendations for new roles: one for a job that wasn't close to what I do, and the other for an super high level executive role was, at best, adjacent to what I did, that already had a chosen candidate, but was being advertised because of policy. The exec role was very, very blatantly written to match the qualifications of the single desired internal candidate.

Redeployment services was a cr-p show. Only done to keep company out of some legality. 40 applications I was 100% qualified for 40 denials. Most applications were not even reviewed until I was an external candidate 2 weeks after applying. Nothing they say in first redeployment meeting actual happens and the “office hours” q&a is filled with benefit questions and folks trying to collect severance and get rehired. Redeployment staff are not helpful and recruiters will ignore you. Company does not want you, do yourself a huge favor and look outside UHC/Optum, your mental and emotional health are much more important.

Re-deployment. It's a JOKE. Leaders at this point certainly don't care for anything, or anyone but THEMSELVES. While it's HARD to "look for a job/position," you MUST do it because (additional) "layoffs are coming.!"

Have not been redeployed and The Redeployment Specialist assigned to me has been anything but helpful. Tells me the same thing as the automated rejection emails I receive.

By the time you as an external candidate get the opportunity to apply to a job posting, they already have a ton of candidates so your chances are already low. The job market right now is not in favor of the job seeker.

Good luck to everyone that’s been hit by this awful mess.
