I worked at Macy’s for several years before 2016. What I experienced during my time there was hard working, overworked, underpaid, good loyal department managers and clueless overpaid executives and CEO’s. The company would pay lots of money for stupid “sales training” for associates that treated us like we were in kindergarten. Some associates had worked there for decades and were great at their jobs. The pay was lousy. The expectations on performance were high and if you met your goals the pay raise you earned was pitiful. Like 25 cents or less. Very little regard or respect from executive higher ups who were getting paid astronomical salaries. Those same executives are the ones making the totally misguided decisions last this latest one of changing and discontinuing brands that customers relied on. Karen Scott was a good, affordable product that shoppers liked. Shoppers HATE when you move the merchandise around. Shoppers HATE when you discontinue brands. Any floor associate could tell you that. The problem is the decision makers live in another world. They don’t even shop at Macy’s .They live in another world. Look up how much the CEO makes. He’s not a customer. The upper management has no clue who the customers are or what they want. Thus ANOTHER rebranding that loyal customers will hate. Farewell Macy’s you don’t have a clue.
