Teradata hasn't had a CEO with experience running a software company in over 20 years. Only one even had CEO experience, but in the grocery business. All the CEOs during this time lacked experience running a software company. MH (NCR hardware sales), MK (NCR Retail cash register sales), VL (former CEO but grocery industry), OR (in the weeds tech guy they sent to a 3 month Harvard class), VL again?, SM (IBM sales). No wonder this company is in a death spiral. We had a part-time CTO during this same time, then added so many clueless ELT hires. Only one significant ELT promotion from within (MT). It's not like we did not pay CEO-level comp. SM made $15M last year while we shrank!!! #TheDyingCompany (TDC)

JO is the puppet master. Don’t be fooled.
SM should resign based on poor performance but he is too self-serving to do that. No CEO with a successful track record would touch this company. No company will acquire it. So the slow death continues until a PE bottom-fisher buys TDC and milks the support contracts.
Yea but OR was a horrible manager. Good tech guy but not CEO material. Teradata needed an experienced CEO like Snowflake hired.
OR at least knew the tech and the value of AI. Now all we have is a bunch of ELT who can't even spell AI.
Good point - the board just goes along, works a few hours a quarter, and collects their bloated stock and comp. Whoever put VL on the board to start with? And remember JR before him? This is a hot mess. Mediocre and inexperienced CEOs and a board that does nothing but count their money. And they call it an independent compensation committee?
VL wanted to sell unlimited AI between Fruity Pebbles and Frosted Flakes at Wal-Mart, Amazing idea, but the board did not support.
They (Board) were thinking "which toadies can we select that will keep our freebie stock awards going? The Board is milking the company, just as the ELT is doing - both are culpable in this hot-mess.
and he made the $15M while the employees have to forgo raises and promotions until October. What's wrong with that picture
