Most of SVP magically promoted to director last week, including some just demoted to I C. Is the goal eliminating SVP title? Otherwise they lost their mind!

I'm on offer for a SVP role (C14) currently.
Post ID: @OP+1sJEwFBV The OP is probably a troll and his is a fake thread and post. In Citi, the only way up is OUT even to the next level (e.g. AVP To VP, VP To SVP). Since Citi is teetering on Bankruptcy, Citi limited the number of promotions since Fall 2022 even before the reog announcements. The only way you can skip a Level / Title, from for example, VP To Director is to get a new job with a New External Employer (i.e. NOT Citi). Citi will Not permit you to skip a Level / Title if you transfer to a new Citi Department. So again, the ONLY Way UP is OUT of Citi. And since Normal Employers do NOT have the SVP level unlike Citi which is layered and matrixed to H3LL and Kingdom Come, the next Level in Normal Employers after VP is Director.
the VPs you're referring to were trying to play the game and got played. it happens and i don't think they were foolish for "doing the most", as you've put it. That approach works very often.
Today’s title drama.
All impotent people managers should be culled. There are some excellent SVPs and Ds and there are those who brown nosed their way into the titles and are useless.
What other large bank has SVP title.
Where do you guys come up with this stuff? "Most SVP's" were not magically promoted to a Director. Do you know how many SVP's there are? Only a handful received the promotion. Secondly it is not a demotion to be an IC. Prior to all this restructuring there have always been SVPs with no direct reports. The goal was to flatten the org and required Ds and MDs with a certain span of control. That meant that some resources needed to be allocated to meet that structure. Some of you people just create drama. There's enough drama in the facts. Stick to those.
Those ranks are such a joke and laughable and some people really believe they are THE vicepresident of Citi as it means in any other industry. I remember some IC folks doing the most because they were VP and now they're gone after the restructuring. Those same folks lacked the experience and the skills to be anything more than an individual contributor with entry level responsibility anywhere else but here they really thought they were way high up there just because their MD used them to their advantage and they really thought they were important because they were pulled into calls with the MDs.
Yes, most SVP feeling that as authority rather responsibility. That role should be eliminated asap.
