I love complaining about 2U as much as the next person, but holy sh-t….i hope some of you are putting as much effort into your job search as you are putting into complaining on an anonymous forum lol. A job at 2U gets/got you a paycheck and benefits, no more no less. Focus on what you can change and move on.

It's really sad to see where this company has gone. When I started it was full of promise. It was so exciting to be there everyday, so energetic.

I didn't know the things I recently learned about Hermes. That he wasn't even a business major, and he was a Vice President at 2U before he ever graduated college. I knew that most of his ascent was largely because he was in the right place at the right time back then, but learning all this? A sociology major? What an unserious company.

The company worshipped chip when I was there. And honestly, I had great respect for him back then too. what a terrible position to land so many hardworking people in. How irresponsible. 2U tried to cultivate an unhealthy relationship with it's employees. it did everything in it's power to make people LOVE 2U with all their hearts and souls. the "kool-aid". 2U became an identity. That is so unhealthy. Be passionate about the work you do, but the company? There should be some healthy distance there.

I remember riding on that float in New Orleans. For the first time at a company meeting I wasn't excited for something big they had planned. I was uneasy. Michelle Obama and now this? This is so much money...it was all I could think. Not to mention, we rode those floats during rush hour. I just felt like it was over the top and one day it would all end up in one of those failed business venture docs like Fyrefest, Theranos and Enron.

So many of the people I worked with at 2U were marvelous. It pains me to see them laid off and looking for work when any company would be lucky to have them. It also pained me, when I was there, to see so many talented intelligent people stuck at lower levels while less talented people were VP and up. There were very few high level leaders I really respected/liked in my time there, and the ones that I did like ended up being forced out.

To everyone still at 2U, I am sure you are doing this, but please please please get out as soon as you can. To everyone laid off, it's hard now but you will find something better than this. To the big bonus 4, I hope you are at least aware of how much pain you have caused people who worked so hard.
