Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Optum CA/Nevada/Colorado/Arizona Layoff Next week + 2nd Week June

Late meeting yesterday + internal email this morning confirming talks had yesterday.

Disease Management, Utilization Management, Managed Care, Pharmacy, Health Education, CSD/IT and Quality Assurance (including MAs in lead roles) will experience the brunt of the cuts.

This is on top of Virtual Pharmacy being Gutted last month with little warning, and Behavioral Services like AbleTo being dramatically reduced.

The cyberattack is being used as the explanation to all of these actions.

Personally, I do not know how much longer Optum will last, as the quality and resources its' employees are continuously being reduced. And I say this as a (possibly former) employee AND patient.

The whole California Optum mobile app will also likely be phased out, or reduced significantly. So all that training is out the window.

If you feel you are at risk of loosing your job , start looking for another while you have a job. Your soul is not sold to a Company.

It’s funny to me that every good thing they ever do gets removed. If someone make a great application, it is quickly phased out when an India team pitches some pie in the sky BS that will never work but management eats it up. As a member I find the UHC app to actually work well but who knows how long that will last when they inevitably gut every good employee.

Remember when we had company wide documentation in Confluence. Too much money, need to remove that and the team involved. I don’t think management is capable of making a good decision at this point. They are a bunch of gutless losers who only see next quarter profits and not long term viability.

This is also completely false. Those states have the highest membership. They also have very specific laws in CA that Optum is required to abide by. As far as Optum going away? That’s laughable. Optum IS the moneymaker for UHG.

Untrue statement. People are stressed out enough. Stop giving out information that you are unclear on.

This Optum management really needs to be scraped and rebuilt! The swat team or national team concept works until you start losing experienced staff, ones who got the experience in the trenches by doing. But no one will work for years being oncall 24/7/365, it’s short sighted and therefore a failed concept!

I have an idea, let’s lay off the people supporting our customers and physicians after this cyber attack. That’s a good idea, right?

They’re literally going to burn every last employee out.

Nope no knowledge here, just assuming based on having seen the local/regional teams realigned countless times the last few years especially East/West.

That su-ks, I imagine the powers at be just expect this work will shift to the National teams, or are they planning yet another regional re-alignment?
