I have not learned the reasoning yet, but many good people are being shown the door today.

Management leveraged the combination of two large segments - Global Finance and the East within the Global Enterprise Segment to cut underperforming individuals and duplicative roles (management) as a result of the segment consolidation. Also, long term - shifting into an industry vertical model that breaks the regional programs up. No clear direction on what the situation will be for pre-sales engineering, specialists, services, etc... and how those groups will align to the vertical focused sales org long term.
Will these layoffs trickle into other non-sales departments? Ever since McKinsey was brought in it feels like the company is changing for the worse.
"How did we make the decision? Traditional selling cycle is not what will be successful in the future. Need to sell more than just products."
