Yet another monument for the consequences of "Californification" - why would anyone pay double or triple for it's employees?
A major chunk of printer and app design, development and test teams are already layed off. Handful retained for remote option for other project. Appears one of major printer product line is ditched by HP.
HP will be under no legal obligation to pay any severance to employees who refuse to relocate. IBM used the same trick and so did AT&T. The relocation packages were so low at AT&T that many refused to relocate and simply quit.
"Rest will relocate to other sites, telework, or WFR."
Thanks for the inside information. FYI:
- Vancouver (WA) has broken ground on a very large campus. This partially explains why.
- Boise is only one building now and I suspect hardly anyone from SD will move to Boise.
- Engineers must work hybrid, and as such they must move from SD.
- This would mean layoffs for engineers in SD. It is a lot easier to hire locally in Vancouver than to relocate them.
At another smaller HP site and absolutely terrified
Glad I get to work from home
