Nielsen And DE&I Parting Ways

Anyone notice on the Nielsen Now internal site that SSW and team are being shuffled around and rebranded to the “Business Inclusion, Impact & Belonging” team … and her title has a similar change?

Writing is on the wall folks. First step in dropping DE&I is removing and associations with the name from titles with some “rebranding”. Next will be program reductions and people then being shown the door.

Good. The DEI (BIIB) needs to be removed altogether. It’s nothing more than anti White and anti male discrimination. Not to mention DEI is fundamentally Marxist. Dr. James Lindsay has a great 3 part series about it.

Heard after a year long GROW program the graduates were all sent a corporate thank you form letter by email with the only personalization being their name at the beginning, then most were instructed of their last days with the company. Couldn't believe that.

As a leader that's deeply involved with one of these programs I can confirm this as fact. SSW and team have done nothing for anyone involved with these programs other than promote SSW and her cronies, and her days are (thankfully) nearing the end.

These teams have gone so far as to insult everyone participating in their programs, once even sending a "corporate thank you" consisting of a coloring book, pencils and cheap Nielsen cloth tote bag as though they were elementary school children, THEN wanted everyone to kiss their hands over it as though it was the best thing ever.

It wasn't. It was a so-called professional giving another one a coloring book as recognition for a years worth of hard work. An insult to put it lightly that didn't sit well for many.

Let that sink in people ... and the fact that Nielsen, a multi-billion dollar company ($20 billion by last recollection) has a measly $60k corporate training budget for a GLOBAL workforce of over 12k associates - of which they are trying to reduce even further!

Take this how you want, but there's truth to what everyone here has been saying about the company and its direction.

The diversity, DE&I and GROW programs have always been a sham (including SSW and her circle) with hardly any promotions or TRUE internal employee growth among any of them.

The point of a COMPANY leadership development program is to develop the next round of leaders WITHIN the company, and when that is a failure so are the associated programs.

IMO these programs have been nothing but personal pet projects for their organizers to pad their own resumes, for saying they have "led company development programs" to bring more value to themselves and not the participants.

That with a pairing of the company needing something to buffer it's increasingly bad reputation as an employer as it navigates moving a majority of US jobs offshore, with that nearing completion now these programs and ties to DE&I will soon be gone.

On a positive note, wanted to say thank you to Nielsen, it's hedge fund owners and consulting firm for bringing an end to this miserable, toxic place of employment and useless company programs.

Given that DE&I at Nielsen has always been just a sham and merely window dressing to give the impression of a virtuous company, it's not surprising that it's being cut.

SSW herself has never done anything substantial to actually address DE&I related issues in the company, she's just drawing a C-suite salary for producing C-suite's usual product - hot air. When they finally kick her in the @ss and send her tumbling out the door, there can't/won't be any further pretense of being this goody-two-shoes forward-thinking company.

Next the “Inclusion and Belonging” parts of the name will be gone, as will SSW, leaving just the Business Impact team - and the distancing will be complete.

I’d put $$$ on it, as if there’s a dollar to save you can guarantee it will be gone. It’s served its purpose and now that purpose is done.
