Food for thought

If you are a data management professional, I want you to ask yourself: how easy is it for your customers to answer questions they have?

If I am a customer, how easy is it for me to get the information I want?

how well is it communicated between both sides exactly what is wanted?

Let's focus on data management. If it isn't easy for your customers to get the data, information, analytics, and/or insight they need, why?

Here is a list of questions you can ask yourself:

  • When was the last time you did an overview of your work and look to cancel or get rid of work not being utilized?
  • When was the last time you met with your customers and discussed the overall work and needs?
  • When was the last time you actually got rid of some of your data work or are you kicking the can down the road on some of your work?
  • How well are you understanding the goals and objectives of the business? Your customers?

Overall, if your work is more complicated than it should be, then maybe it is time for you to kick some of it out.

I suggest you do some work to evaluate your overall work. The data stack, the reporting and analytics you are building, and your relationship with your customers. You may find that it doesn't need to be this complicated.

Oh, and you may need to get rid of some of the work you are doing. Be self-aware and acknowledge it, then do it.

Keep it simple st..

Why'd you have to go and make things so complicated?
I see the way you're
Actin' like you're somebody else, gets me frustrated
Life's like this, you
And you fall, and you crawl, and you break
And you take what you get and you turn it into
Honesty and promise me, I'm never gonna find you fake it
No, no, no
