Genentech seems to lay off legit people (Principal Scientists and such), and the extremely poor-calibered, no good and literally un-hireable people at Roche Molecular in Pleasanton, CA are still kept around. I used to work there more than a decade ago, and left in a year because I couldn't handle the id--ts over there. There were 'principal scientist II's at RMS, Pleasanton who came into work at 11 AM, everyday, chatted with folks, went to lunch, sat on a couple of meetings, went off to chat with folks again, before he left at 5 pm, every day. The fellow did nothing for years, but was kept around by the id--t VP, Walter Koch, at the time. The fellow is still there!
Shouldn't Roche be shutting down RMS, Pleasanton and saving resources to fund something else??
