Applied for a job at 9am and got rejected by 1pm.
I applied for 2 engineer positions and ask my director to put in a word in for me. She came back and said they were “ghost” positions meaning they were for “if” a need came to be. Putting jobs out like that during a time when people are struggling with getting cut is not very cool. Director lady did go off on HR for that but still, I got 1 week with no bites externally.
interestingly i found if i add the "2024" code as a way to prioritize candidacy, the result is that i got the rejection much quickly lol
I was laid off during the 2023 one and was able to get an internal job. I got a lot of rejections 20+ and about 3 interviews. But one thing I did was apply through the tool but also sent an email to the recruiter and hiring manager from each posting. Explaining I was on the list to be laid off and looking to see if they are interviewing for the job. Once I started to do that I started to get more serious interviews and was not rejected right away.
It is sad to read all these comments. Also that you never realized the 99% of those job posting are already assigned to someone.
I have kept looking for internal opportunities when I got to know my role was impacted. but failed... really not sure how these decisions are made
It's not even that I want to stay. It's that we all need a job. I'm still 25 years away from retirement. More than qualified for every role I applied for, even stepping down tier levels and nothing. I have however evidence that they are hiring external, and recruiters even head hunting. Anyone know at what management level made the decisions on who to lay off. No one seems to know and I'd like to speak some truth.
Got similar experience - all the internal application got rejected.. It seems extremely difficult to find new roles
Why would they interview anyone who would not be offered relocation?
Because they think the entire workforce is as stupid as they are.
Yeah I had a great interview and got a new role offer but they wouldn't let me do it from my current office and would not offer pay increase or relocation compensation.
I asked why they wouldn't allow me to join the team from my current office, since there are already 2 colleagues based here on that exact team. They just said "strategic location requires new hires are based here". So they said move to the other side of the country or no offer. Obviously I couldn't accept the offer. They're a--holes about location. We can all work remotely... As long as it's the same country for tax and gdpr reasons it is just discrimination.
