Thread regarding SAP layoffs

Anyone who wasn't impacted considering just quitting?

It's not a good plan but I figure if they fire the best people around me what's the point in being here? Sure the market is bad but SAP already pays terribly and when eventually I find a new job I'll actually get paid market rate. Fu-k this place.

I have worked with some of the biggety and most complex and expensive clients SAP had. I mean these are the types of account that were in Bill’s office for escalation at some point. And those customers love me and offered to work for them.
If I am driven to the point of being completely fed up, I think the best you can do is become one of the SAP most pain in the a-s client haha. Or go to competitor.

Staying for severance? Stay if your health is okay. I know someone who had a stroke. Another coworker is on some kind of neuron blocker because of stress.
At some point it’s not worth staying.
Only you know if you can handle it.

I have been here too long and the severance will only feed my retirement fund. Have my resume ready and casually applying outside and being open to the right job not just any job. Wait collect the cash at least get that from SAP.

As a direct answer to the OP, Yes but not without some prep although a kneejerk action is very tempting! I don't want to be here for a minute longer than I have too.

I was impacted in 2023, I found a new position internally. Following 23 and because I know of some areas that will be impacted in 2024 my job is going to be so much harder. I am working 50% more than in 2022 and salary is the same.

Morale is terrible, customer confidence in SAP delivering and supporting after a sale is at an all time low .

Although confirmed I am not impacted this year I do not believe this is the end and I am preparing myself to leave SAP in the next 12 months. Download assets, read up on stuff, find out who the people are in the org that have authority to get things done and register it so you can keep it in your little black book when you interview so making yourself valuable for a customer or competitor.

I am appalled at thew approach of project 23 and 24. 23 was costly geographies such as US, UK not withstanding they are the largest markets outside of DE. Again this year is transition and US,UK and DE (which is normally seen as untouchable and too costly) the major beneficiaries of the transformation. Short term thinking.

Get out, but don't cut off you nose to spite your face. Take time to prepare and take as much knowledge with you as you can.

My thoughts are with everyone directly impacted, it can be terrifying. Make use of any offerings SAP offer. It might sound a long way off but it will be over and you'll move on. As for those that remain, it's awful watching those we respect and work with being impacted and it seems there's nothing we can do. Don't feel guilt, it wasn't your doing.

On current market quitting is only logical if you have a job offer. What we all shall learn from those events is simple - keep resume up to date, and eyes open - always.

I am not in a hurry, but definitely dusting off my resume and applying randomly and training for interviews - we all deserve better

Yes, even though I wasn't affected, I can see the morale drop in existing teams.
As someone who is a single-family earner, I cannot afford to be taken by surprise, so will use this time to find the right job with the competition, using my extensive knowledge and highlighting some of the known problems in the software and GTM when moving to RISE.

Sorry, but I am now looking after number 1, not SAP.

To retain dignity and not let them control you with severance package

Why should we quit - If we quit, we would lose all the severance package. We worked hard for so many years to go through this. So, at least take the severance package. I am buying a Tesla with the package :)
