Thread regarding NCR Corp. layoffs

No more virtual employees

Just heard company is not going to hire virtual employees anymore. They are also calling employees back to the office 4 days a week who live within 50 miles of an office. Wonder what’s going to happen to the ones who don’t. Any guesses?

In regards to carrying a company cell phone, turn it off when off shift, don’t text or email anything you would not say face to face with your boss or hr. The way both companies use cell phones is very unethical, I wouldn’t put anything past them, managers are given any access they ask for and get it to use against you, they are groomed to drink the cool Aid and do as they are told. The company cell phone is nothing but trouble, same goes for a laptop, your best to power it down 16 hours a day and weekends

If you carry a phone to be on call you need to be compensated. I know the field rotates pager with pay. Level 2 also had pager flat rate to be on call for the ces. I could have had 5 hours or 20 a week same pay. They had taken that away around 2013 to cut cost. Now with this Push to being non virtual i would add back in the mix if your on call, i get paid. Min to carry it and hourly to use it. Just a thought.

It’s soo bad to see the proxy statements when the older executives ripped every dime while underperforming soo much by dragging it to ground and the new executives with decent pay. In this both situation the actual employees paid like sh-t(non favorable employees) and being tossed on by these mfs direction when both don’t care about employees & don’t know how to run the company.

For some of us it does not even make sense as we don’t have any members in ghq to collaborate with.

This is not unique and ongoing across companies throughout the USA post-Covid era. It was fun while it lasted but the WFH days are winding down for everyone.
There is also political pressure to ensure office buildings get used again and to mitigate people fleeing states/downtown areas/commercial property values/tax revenues….It’s all connected.

We all should be aware of the future of the 2 companies by now, if you’re a virtual employee working from home, you will be outsourced. Techs are still safe servicing customers, but the goal still remains the same, reduce service calls and reduce the number of techs, as techs leave for better opportunities or even retirement, they won’t be replaced, at that point any remaining techs will be run to death trying to service the vast territories. The sale of one company probably happens this year as well.
Nothing good is going to come in 2024 or in reality, ever.

My guess is if you don't come in as requested, your first conversation will be with your manager as a warning. If continued you will be written up and put on a PIP. If still not followed, eventually let go. If you were hired as virtual, that would be the potential next round of potential RIF candidates. That's easy RIF money to send to Serbia, India & Cebu.

The multi-million dollar CEO drives his gas guzzling truck into the office everyday to "collaborate". You should do the same. I don't agree with any of it, but my opinion in the matter of things mean nothing. Good luck.
