Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Any idea why layoffs are done on Thursdays and not Fridays?

Our market was torn to pieces yesterday and they can’t be human enough to at least give us a full 24 hours before interacting with patients like everything is normal? some of us have had their lives flipped upside down and it’s get right back to work the next day! We are just numbers and there is no humanity involved at all. At least do it on a Friday...

Yes. They expect you to be fired/let go at 0816 and cont the remainder of the day working. The inhumanity. After 16 yrs to get cut without warning? except there has been the constant threat looming. They continually raise the bar. Your stellar performance today is not up to par tomorrow sadly. Jmo

When we got axed VP told us to take the rest of the day and Friday if we needed. The next 2 weeks wework job search and resources. It's cr-p that you were told to work!

Standard practice in the US and has been at most companies for many years.

They do them on Thursdays so that people have time to process, and so the gossiping and talking amongst employees happens on Thurs/Friday… then people have Friday night and the weekend to decompress and by Monday everyone left has moved on.

Yeah that would be a hard no for me, I would be spending my time looking for a new job, they obviously aren't loyal to us, no need to keep being loyal to them.

We are remote and expected to continue working as normal. Some of the laid off obviously called out. It’s just terrible.

They want you back to work? I know my spouse was told to not log in again and onsite staff had to turn in badges and clear out. They ware wanting medical staff to continue on?
