Thread regarding Optum layoffs

For those impacted by the massive layoffs yesterday-

Be mindful while working with this horrendously managed organization if you're curious about another position. I can't say with certainty, but I've heard if they offer a position and you decline, you forfeit severance. Wishing you all the best and once the dust settles you'll probably notice your anxiety plummet. They expect the moon from us (i.e., meet inverse metrics, get members to love us, blah, blah, blah). But other than a paycheck, lousy insurance, and the complacency working from home brings they don't have much to offer. Y'all got this!

That is very true. However, if you don’t apply for a job they can’t do anything about it. Unfortunately, I was a part of restructuring in 2021.

What layoff is anticipated in July?

If you decline an internal job that is 90% or more or your current salary within the 2 week redeployment window your severance will not be paid out. If the internal job offer is less than 90% of your current salary the offer can be declined. But honestly - it doesn't really matter. The likelihood of anyone getting an offer in the 2 week redeployment window is maybe 0.000001% chance. So the only way to basically not get the payment is by not signing the agreement, or talking cr-p about the company on social media or something and have it tracked back to you

I wasn’t fired almost wish I was, but my entire job description has been changed to something I do not want. The people in the position are far less educated than I am so I suspect I’ll be on the next layoff coming in July. Already started interviewing.

Well stated! Yes, the insurance they offer is WAY to expensive. I expected more from a company that owns the insurance piece. Optum claims they" care" for their employees. Yeah right! blah, blah, blah....
