Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Layoff lessons learned

Just my own thoughts. Add your own below:

  1. Take that floating holiday if you haven’t already!
  2. Document everything you’ve done, so you refer to your skills when seeking out your next move.
  3. Leave on good terms if possible; you’ll want both peer and manager references
  4. Use the LHH coaching, but don’t rely just on that - the new job will require all your networking skills
  5. I’m not a fan of LinkedIn but I connected with a LOT of people before I got laid off, and that’s come in handy.

The conversations I’ve had with other folks that got laid off and my own experience seem similar to other posts - the resentment is understandable, but not useful to stay in longer term. Acknowledge it, and then shift your focus to the next chapter. Be patient, persistent and relentless in your pursuit. Do NOT let their bad business decisions decide how you feel about yourself.

My biggest advice is that it’s not a reflection on you. These business decisions were made at the C level with the board. Don’t take it personally that you are a bad worker

Yet you’re still coming to this site. I say you’re still affected. Maybe more than a little upset and haven’t moved on.
