The feeble attempts at humor to smooth over rough messages were quite lame.
The attempts to try and be relatable to the common employee was lame. They are not relatable, they are not under the same threat of being let go and even so the financial umbrella for which they are compensated with….um…no…not relatable to the average employee at all.
Mentioning that the layoff was unfortunate only to mention that we let go 300 MD to hire 310 more MD as a win was lame.
Mentioning that Citi paid a lot in severance with the estimate of 214K per package was also lame. The higher level you were, like a MD, when you were let go the higher your severance. The average smo did NOT get an average of 214K. All to only replace those higher levels you let go with another replacement keeping the pay the same for that level. Its a numbers game.
The general messages were poorly delivered and stated with uncertainty. Most of the statements sounded more like a question rather than a point of fact.
