I wonder how many of the layoffs are really wrongful terminations.

I was terminated a month ago for some weak policy violation. After 12 years with the company & recently being sold to Optum and promised “nothing would change” they fired me for having a relatively mild disagreement with a coworker. I was an easy target, it was a bullsh-t termination.
But I’ve already got another job and I consider myself fortunate to have gotten ahead of the pack of competition.
Fu-k Optum though. Next time my company is sold, I am on the fast track OUT!
I was laid off yesterday. My manager ask for my personal email to send the severance package information. I was emailed ( by mistake ) the list of employees on the team I was on that were laid off vs not laid off. The list was separated by title and age only. There was definitely some discrimination by age. Most of the people laid off on this list were 42+.The majority of the younger staff were safe. This is not the full list but just on the team I was under.
age discrimination can be proven if newer emplyee someone younger makes more or equal monkey .
please contact EEOC labor comissioin to put a claim in
There are wrongful terminations within the layoffs. They can be proven.
Management and HR will make it hard to prove, but it can be done.
most likely none employment is at will so either party can say see you at any time
I know mine was, but I didn’t care. I had made it to the point in time where I had options if let go. UHG gave me 14yrs of employment so I don’t wish them harm, but it has become a sh-t hole to work at the last ten years. If I wanted to sue them for age discrimination or for stating my position was eliminated then going about to replace me. That guy quit on them too! At least I quiet quit them 5yrs ago. I made up for the sh---y raises by working less hours every week until they noticed LOL! But I did everything they had for me to do and I completed another colleague’s work so they didn’t really have cause performance wise. I hated my job and wanted a good severance like the ones given in mass layoffs but I got a minimal pkg. But wrongfully terminated is tough for the employee to prove, just get what you can out of this and then move on!
US law doesn't care unless some law is broken ( e.g age discrimination etc). Burden of proof will be on you and impossible to prove.
You sign away all rights when you become an employee
