Thread regarding SAP layoffs

Whole team in CoE Ireland got binned

Walter was very kind to let us know that their reason for firing the entire team was "they were moving to a lower cost region"

there is good number of jobs available in CoE IE at the moment so those affected should be able to find something for themselves if they wish.

Walter who?
Also how many people are CoE?
Will there be a possibility for many to be re-assigned to other roles?

Nothing wrong with CoE staff,in fact there are brilliant individuals.this specific impact is due to politics played by its leaders and their lack of willingness for collaboration. They could have nicely blended with other org units when the timing was right.

@aby+1s5WMoj4 No such thing, a lot of the engineering teams let go where doing AI or cloud native engineering, all got let go because they can short term decrease costs make hassos share sale better

CoE serves as SAP's best revenue generator within its service area, yet its employees endure grueling workloads akin to modern-day slavery, facing relentless pressure from customers and managers while managing numerous projects simultaneously. The decision to terminate the CoE team raises serious questions about the company's direction and priorities

Looks like your future in SAP is tied to global availability of the work you do.

Luckily I'm in a team for an area with huge global demand and even with RISE and AI, is still essential. There's very little competition globally and it's not a topic that someone can just ramp up on easily. We simply can't keep up and all our side of the team could work round the clock if we wanted.

But if you're in a team where services are scarce and there is competition with other regions. Especially new emerging teams in these regions that you may have been asked to co-deliver with in the past, they're probably being ramped up to replace you.

My advice is try get ahead of the curve, look at the sh--e they are saying and try get into an area that is strategic. Even if not affected now. There are loads of areas that I can see affected in the near future.
