Five years in, and I'm fed up. I thought I hit a jackpot when I got an offer - it was Dell, after all - but I was so wrong. The salary falls short, opportunities for advancement are non-existent, and the work itself is dull. I have to admit the management is brave to continue laying people off, considering how many share my sentiments and plan to walk away.

By the sounds of things, you won’t be working at dell for long
It’s a sweatshop.
I'm guessing you don't even work for Dell. Don't you have a college protest to attend.
I love Indians who will take all
Your jobs and leave your future generations destitute
love my ancestors
You are complaining after 5 years etc etc. Just leave.
Clearly there some folks butthurt when you expose the wrongs of their ancestors!
someone spends all their free time fighting on thelayoff.com apparently
Karma. You don’t care about the land your ancestors stole. They don’t care about the jobs they steal from you
Universe is in balance.
okay, thanks for the history lesson everyone. Nobody cares who took whose land centuries ago. There's a dead horse, let's go beat it....more. Yes, companies are benefitting by hiring Indian workers. American's are losing jobs because of this. So rich get richer and assumingly the middle class gets weaker. If there is resentment towards Indian workers or Indian managers giving priority to hiring Indian people rather than American, its for good reason. I'd like to see less H1b hiring as there are plenty of US workers to do the job where you don't need to go to India to fill those jobs.
Indeed no one gets a pass. The US and European Union are all drowning in trillions of dollars of debt, slaves to inflation, and involved in constant war. The civilizations that participated in slavery have been made a nation of debt slaves. The younger generations can't even afford to have children. Others cannot defend themselves and have been made subservient to the West. It all evens out one way or the other
They may have a thick accent, but they likely speak 5 different languages unlike the dummies on this website crying about their advantage coming to an end
Team,
Kindly do the needful.
Thanks for proving my point. You don’t even know what you don’t know. That’s why you have this over-the-top arrogance and self-assuredness. Like I said: not all India workers are bad, but I definitely find I need to babysit them when I hear that accent. The thicker the accent, the more babysitting they generally require.
Indian workers are satisfied if they get something to work once. They don’t care how ugly their solution is. In the US, we require something to work every time and the better workers care about how elegant their solution is.
pushing a bill now to reduce h1b since there are alot of unemployed Americans due to layoffs so the pool of American software developers is now excessive. Don't need H1B now.
I can see the lazy White American men are butthurt about the truth that Indian workers can do their jobs more efficiently and at a fraction of the cost. You have had an easy few decades and now you are upset it’s coming to an end
Seems like HR or some Dell higher-up has contracted a script kiddie to downvote each comment with the same number of upvotes it has?
Whoever is claiming that Indians do a better job is really smoking crack. Just like any other group of people, there are great ones, and not-so-great. I have found that Indian workers that were educated and/or raised in the US are usually at least on par with everyone else. Their cultural background seems to value hard work and achievement which gives them a leg up.
Many Indian workers directly from India are completely full of sh-t. They have a tendency to be very arrogant. They also have a racism where they assume non-Indians are all stupid. I think there are two reasons for this:
- India is the minor leagues. They are top of the food chain in India and think that also applies to the US. As rotten as US culture is, we still have much higher standards for things working on a consistent basis than India and other developing countries.
- The Indian culture is very class conscious. It’s acceptable for them to be rude to people below them.
Unfortunately, non-technical managers mistake arrogance for confidence. In my experience, the more arrogant/aggressive the Indian worker, the more they are trying to compensate for lack of competence. They try to steamroll over people.
not is ISG, nepotism central
Keep telling yourself that. Indians do the job just as good, better work ethic and cost less. Majority of managers and vp are still white men ( who really do hire their own )
no they just hire their own kind and fire the ones that aren't. Nepotism at it's best.
Indians are smarter than you people in USA
Indians are taking over
this place doesn't change
Was my first job 5 years ago. I thought it was the jackpot. Maybe I am to blame but my manager started going insane on me and I decided to quite quit until I got my severance.
Now I’m in a much better role with better career growth.
If you don’t like your job then QUIT
It does it you are an under achiever or retirement age.
You thought it was the jackpot 5 years ago? LOL.
