Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

All time out of the office is now considered R&R

Wow. What a concept. The all hands meeting was so inspiring. I didn't realize until today that I was using all this R&R time while not glued to an office chair. And we are expected to conduct company business while on REAL R&R time.
I'm so energized and ready to work longer hours while only allowed to enter 40 hours per week for project time keeping (false reporting).
It gets better every year!!
(Sarcasm).

Other than shilly and any other FB minions that haunt this board, pretty much everyone here is gone, leaving, or trying to leave.

Those that got out a year or so ago before the other boot was firmly pressed against everyone's neck are mostly lucky (I know a few got laid off after leaving here)

Those that are looking still are dealing with a weird job market with multiple tech, finance, and banking companies laying off while posting large numbers of new job postings. Those that are trying to leave are finding no response from companies, ATS/AI rejection letters almost immediatly after applying, or ghosting (pre and post interviews.)

Those in tech focused positions are in an especially bad place with all the FAANG companies, and most of the rest of the tech sector laying off people in record numbers. FB and his minions know they have the IT workers over a barrel at the moment.

tl;dr most everyone on here is out or trying to get out.

A number of years ago, I called my boss during PTO to ask about a specific project. He said, "Why are you calling in? This time is yours and you're supposed to use it to unwind. We'll see you in a week!"

Fast-forward a few years and I told my boss at the time that, since work wasn't paying for my phone, I kept a separate one for Fiserv stuff and put it in a drawer when I went on vacation. He looked at me like I had three heads. He responded, "You should ALWAYS be available." Sorry. I'm not transplant surgeon. You want to start paying me like one and I'll start carrying that phone on PTO.

If you come back, I bet you could be the SVP of "Snacks". Your current employer is the only requirement that matters. (Apparently)

To Northern King’s point, I left Frankserv to work at JPMC and it is NOT as restrictive as this. This is insane. It’s a job, not a cult.
So sad to see this once great company doing this…

My boss wonders why I'm looking for new job. R&R is all time off.
Which pompous a-s made the comments about all tine off is considered tine off?
The same pompous a-s can show us your Sapience report to prove it.

Sounds like BS to me. Show me this in the company policy.

If you can make any sense of it then you're doing better than me. I sat there staring at the camera with my jaw on the desk. Letting the manager know that I did tell them I'd be in doc appts for the whole day since everyone in the family had appts in that pto request.

Here I thought I was being efficient getting all the appts scheduled at the same period of time. But apparently the only acceptable level of efficiency is all fiserv all the time.

“Can confirm @2cyg+1s4hv9t1's statement to a point, during a recent day off for doctor appts (multiple) upon returning I was told if my manager knew I wouldn't be working during my time off, they wouldn't have approved it (on unlimited PTO which auto approves anything less than 10 days).”

Sorry what am I missing here. “My manager said they wouldn’t have approved my day off if they knew I wouldn’t be working on my day off.” Huh?!?

I think this is hilarious. If you’re being asked to incorporate company business into R&R time then I suggest pulling out the popcorn in the office, putting your feet up on the desk and settling in to watch a movie. When challenged act confused and refer to the new work life blended policy :)

It's corporate brain washing, drinking too much orange Kool-aid, JPMC syndrome (since he came from there- go figure) or whatever adjective you can apply. Experienced people don't fall for the corporate BS. Another reason we are being replaced by sheep.

Don’t get it. Driving to work is R&R. Eating dinner is R&R. What does that even mean?

I do know badges are being deactivated if people are out of office for more than a certain number of days in a row. That’s going to be most people at some point so what is the point of that when it just means badge needs to be reactivated on return.

Anyone know why this is done?

Our EVP Chief Growth officer was "sharing " that we should learn to incorporate or treat our commute times, family meals, watching TV, browsing social media sites, book reading, etc as R&R and we should always do some company business during real R&R taken.

Please explain what exactly was said that makes you say this. Too often on here there are posts that assume everyone who is reading was at the meeting so will know what they’re talking about.

Absolutely believe it…every badge swipe is counted as an “opportunity “…hours in ofc are tracked/hours R&R are recorded as “absence”
