Thread regarding VMware layoffs

There is always another round at Broadcom

If you've made it this far and you think you're safe, think again. There's always another round at Broadcom. It might be small so not many people hear about it, but it's happening. Over and over again.

10k (25%) of VMware employees in less than 6 months and by my estimate, another 10k by the end this fiscal year....so many good people gone/going...just what one wants and needs when they wake up every morning, to find out a tone more good people are gone. Joy!

Not a VMware problem. That's a silicon valley problem. You'll find it at all the big companies.

Let me guess, you know exactly who the rot is. They just coincidentally have been people who have wronged you or who you feel didn't deserve their position, even though you don't know how they got there. Because you were the obvious, most gifted, most logical choice and it makes no sense, except DEI, as to why you were passed over for promotion or recognition.

In the last three years before Broadcom, VMware was flooded in all ranks with Didn't Earn Its. DEI rotted the tanks and Broadcom is discovering more rot every day. Getting rid of the people is only part of the solution, figuring out the rot to the product and cleansing the culture is equally important. Tall order for the Hock. The rot is deep.

Nothing unique to Broadcom. I'm surprised it took the OP this long to notice. It's almost like saying the sky is blue and the OP just noticed it. 🥱

"Within the last couple of weeks they've used mandatory RTO as the catalyst to shed some people who were not willing to sit in traffic for 2+ hours each way in their respective cities."

You were all warned - you could have left if it didnt suit you. What makes you so different to everyone else?

It's not just Broadcom right-sizing. In the EUC BU we expect KKR to demand headcount cuts as they assess our balance sheet and plan their turn-around strategy of the business.

What a useless post. There is always another round at every company.

Sigh, yet another one of these. Just drop it. We all know it. We all realize it. Why does every month have to be "Doom is coming! Prepare!"?

What else is new ... it's not just Broadcom - it's literally every single company out there. All you can do is build an emergency fund, show up on time, do your job and if it happens, it happens.

Onwards and Upwards.
