"Seems like HR or some Dell higher-up has contracted a script kiddie"
Nope probably a senior VP sitting in their home office on 20 computers spending the entire day down voting internet comments and calling it AI engineered results.
Seems like HR or some Dell higher-up has contracted a script kiddie to downvote each comment with the same number of upvotes it has?
They need to get rid of the fiefdom building mentality. The org I’m in has grown exponentially just to justify a promotion from Director to VP for our “leader.”
Problem is that it’s hard to attain VP but once it’s attained, they all protect each other—the ones who voted them in. I’m not calling out a boys club but more a VP club. Once you’re in, you project the folks that voted you in.
That’s the problem…and also their kids getting brought up through the ranks. Easier to identify if they’re male. Harder when they’re female and get married and have different last names. But they are there.
While I fully support the VP hunger games, plenty of SVP and above that also need to go!!!
Flatten the org. Get rid of the bullies and authoritarian wannabes.
VP consolidation is definitely happening. A lot of "retirements"
I second the "VP Consolidation" angle. Last week, it was "this VP is retiring". Which is fine/normal until you see the same explanation 4 or 5 times. This week another round of VPs seemingly asked to resign at our request. I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing: if they're not useful or we don't need a VP for a particular division/org, probably fine to clean house.
VP consolidation

Yeah genius they’re talking about the MANY MANY ARTICLES that were released in late March referencing Dell’s 10-k SEC filing that disclosed 13,000 people were laid off between Feb 2023 and Feb 2024. That’s what they were posting about. Nowhere in any of those posts does it say “13,000 on April 15” either.
And even IF those two people who posted that somehow thought those articles were saying that Dell would lay off 13,000 instead of them saying Dell DID lay off 13,000 between Feb 2023-Feb 2024 and completely misunderstood due to poor reading comprehension, that (13,000) was NOT the rumor that has been going around overall across Dell be it on this website or otherwise.
I’ll post ONE of the MANY articles written about the 13,000 layoff again so you can see where that came from. It’s not a number someone pulled from their a*s. They did in fact lay off 13,000 over the course of 12 months.

Anybody with a brain knew however that Dell would continue to lay A LOT of people off since Feb when the hybrid/remote email came down because there was LEAKED internal memos stating Dell wants to “thin the herd” and “reduce its footprint” (actual quotes) with a goal to get below 100,000 employees. On top of that it was simply obvious.

Where April 15 came from I do not know however I had heard it from people who have never heard of this website.
I know even though I have provided full proof of everything you’re still going to act like you’re right somehow. Not really sure why you’re simping for a corpo. I think you also don’t understand that the last several layoffs happened over a number of weeks, not one single day.
"My point is nobody ever said 13k would be let go this week. Anyone who thought that has poor reading comprehension skills - which is a common issue within Dell in general."
There is literally two posts down a bit with 13k as the EFFFFING title. And read them.
Some predicted as such. My god. You are dense.
@gsf+1s4BGO6H Bro Dell hasn’t laid me off or anyone else I know this week so I dunno what you mean. I wish they would though honestly. The moment they sent out the remote/hybrid email I was ready to go. They should have laid the ones who were long term remote and nowhere near the offices off right then and there instead of taking away all of our opportunities but letting us stay (temporarily). It was so obvious what they were trying to do with that passive aggressive BS - they wanted us to quit to avoid severance. I’ll be damned if I give them that satisfaction so quickly. They can pay me. Until then I’ll be doing the absolute minimum on the days I do show up to work.
My point is nobody ever said 13k would be let go this week. Anyone who thought that has poor reading comprehension skills - which is a common issue within Dell in general.

As stated earlier the 13k was quoted by news articles. If people misread, or you misread, that’s on them/you. Nobody here said they would lay off 13k on Monday though. A simple google search will help you understand.
Like you’re actually an id--t which makes sense if you work for Dell. Mo--n.

I heard it's another 13k by the end of this fiscal year, stay tuned!
Premier is getting hit Globally this week. Many layoffs happened yesterday and many have already been told today.
The last few predictions here were for a bloody 15th. There are posts literally naming 13k.
Now reread the above sentences again slowly.
The forum is not more right than wrong. It's on an endless loop of semi weekly layoff predictions. Predictions are piled on top of predictions. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
I think dell is a decacying garbage heap. BUT
I know you guys are disappointed. And dell wont rehire you.
Wow does op even work for Dell? Doubt it.
Anyone who has been at Dell knows that the 13,000 was from LAST YEAR. The news sites were trying to repot that Dell would lay off 6000 from the 10-k filing but 10-k was for the previous year. Dell laid off 6500 in Feb 2023, 6000 in Aug 2023, and 500 or so in Feb 2024.
The newest layoff is happening now and we don’t know how many or how long.
It was really obvious though that Dell was going to do this right after the remote designation.
- ) The 13k was last year's, not predictive for this round.
- ) This round is not over yet.
- ) Dell will continue aggressive alignment to target of ~90-100k employees over the near future.
This forum continues to be more right than wrong, but it doesn't mean there isn't some exaggeration or bad information that floats around. Its a web page for rumor, treat it as such.
