Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Denise is out

Is she really “retiring” or did the BOD finally come to their senses? How long will MAM last?

So who actually in Human Resources knew about what was going on and for how long? Did they not escalate? How did this go on for so long? Anyone I know that complained was let go.

I wonder how long it's going to be before Grant is able to get the budget under control and better compensate the audit teammates who've hung in here for way too long with negligible internal promotions, watching as Denise's cronies and contractors were getting the big bucks to flush the department down the toilet.

David Weaver, Kelly King, Bill Rogers, Beau ED never cummings are tge problem here folks. They are disgusting ppl. i look at them and see stupidity, greed, pathetic obsession money, and poor family members. They feel great bc they are rich but once that wears off in retirement, they will begin to be haunted about the lives they ruined and no one will be by their side as they go into a deep depression. They will realize they have been artificially propped up by a title and once that is gone, they will be old men that will be told to shut up and move out of the way. Karma is a real thing so hope they enjoy right now....

Because of Denise, Truist lost a LOT of hardworking, dedicated employees! It’s sad they kept her as long as they did.

He fires anyone who reports him to HR for being an abusive boss. That’s what he does and then wonders why half his team left.

So long, Denise — we saw the red flags from day 1. And if Mandy was still there, she should’ve been fired too. The entire leadership team did nothing but destroy TAS.

Straight I’ve never worked for this company and heard so many stories how much this women su-ked. Destroying lives and pushing strong talent out for the sake of her own needs.

Can’t wait to keep pushing ppl out like this, destroying culture and preventing a regulatory environment to function properly.

Congrats team!

The Chief Teammate Officer is absolutely culpable in what has happened in audit and every other area of the bank. She is teflon, nothing sticks to her and we all know why. It is time for her to ride off into sunset and start over in HR. As a hBBT she like Starnes, Weaver and Donta sold out for their own personal gain. They each have shown no character in watching what STI management has done to the bank and hBBT employees in particular. All are cowards and sell outs.

@2hcg+1s3ts91o - Good laugh for real.

I didn't think that a retiree would prioritize updating their LinkedIn profile on the same day they retired, especially if it means they're updating it to show that they're now self-employed as an audit executive officer when they literally "retired" from a position as a chief audit officer earlier that day.

Maybe the official retirement activities have been changed, but outside of a security teammate retiring, I also never heard of any retiree being escorted from the building by security personnel. If anything, a lunch or dinner party is often held to celebrate the retirement and give teammates the opportunity to wish the retiree well and show them how valued they were to the remaining teammates.

I guess they knew there wouldn't be a good turnout if she'd had a party, and judging from the comments on her LinkedIn post about her decision to retire, I think they'd have been correct. Out of 53 commenters, 18 were from her MUFG coworkers, but only 2 were from TAS teammates (including 1 that just joined last month and also worked with her at MUFG). That's extremely telling to me. Otherwise, 12 were from non-audit Truist teammates, 2 each from TD Bank, ABN AMRO, and Protiviti (although I'm surprised Protiviti isn't singing more of her praises since she sent them untold $ since she left there), 1 from a grad school classmate, and 1 from a grad school professor.

Doesn't the ethics function roll up under Compliance, Grant's old group? Interesting.

I am going to go against popular opinion and say that Denise didn't seem that bad. I think her downfall was putting all her eggs in the Martin and Williams basket. I am not in TAS but have a lot of interaction with audit leadership and there was a negative shift when these two started to get involved in enterprise initiatives. I would think the same shift was felt internally within TAS. Their lack of understanding of concepts under their remit manifested into confusing and defensive conversations. Decisions were being made that didn't align to strategy or common sense. Before they came to Truist audit leadership, old and new, seemed well spoken in their areas of expertise and easy to work with. Challenge existed but the air was positive. My two cents.

HR and Ethics should be held liable for this too. Others out of Audit need to fall. They were aware and multiple very credible people raised the issues that were happening. NOTHING was done. They let destruction of good people and a good organization happen.

Looks like that Protiviti gravy train will be coming to a halt. I'm sure that Denise and MAM are making their calls - - - "I scratched your back, now you need to scratch mine" and looking for a job. Protiviti would be nuts if they hired them now. Many of the banks are aware and on alert after all of this. This is a small world we all work in.

@2hcg+1s3ts91o thanks for the good laugh

DD said she retired. From LinkedIn

"I recently made the decision to retire from Truist. I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to spend more time with my growing family. I look forward to expanding my board service and community engagement where I can continue to live out the Truist shared purpose of inspiring and building better lives and communities. "

It was clear early on that MM’s nastiness and bullying ways was due to her knowing deep down she didn’t have the chops for the job, and therefore all of her meanness was nothing more than deflection from her deep inadequacies. 100% crony and nothing else.

Many people are saying MM is a nasty person. Hopefully the new CAO does the right thing and takes care of this. Imagine the boost to TAS morale if MM is walked out.

A lot of work to do in audit fixing the mess left by DD and her arrogant cronies. In addition to reasons discussed by other posters with the regulators getting ready to come down on us having Grant involved with them will mitigate some of the issues. Regulators will still be firm but likely more lenient with a new leader whom they will right away find is more responsive and trustworthy. The atmosphere in the department certainly has begun improving and will only get better when the rest of DD’s cronies are dumped or leave on their own.

DD has been fired. So good to see that! The comment about returning is BS. Her cronies from MUFG, whom actually all came from TD, should be next. Especially, MM. She has absolutely nothing to give any organization than her bullying and nasty character. Truist better get rid of MAM, MM for sure. TW is another one. She does absolutely no work expect getting her role changed regularly while collecting a fat paycheck. There are others who have barely 15 years of experience and have been hired as MDs. Blows my mind. Stay away from these people and you’ll be much happier! Hope senior bank management realizes this and gets rid of these people sooner rather than later!!

Agree with this assessment. Don’t have personal knowledge of what the regulators are discussing, but makes sense. We have inside knowledge of how dysfunctional this dept. has been. Likely clear to the regulators as well.

The consultant budget comment is interesting , considering DD son is an intern at the consulting firm that received one of those fat contracts.

To answer the question of what happened is very simple. Just look at what happened when Daryl Bible “retired”. He is now the CFO of M&T. Except in this instance there was no grace given to her to even transition. She was Fired. There should be zero doubt of this fact as even senior audit leadership was taken by surprise. It has been known for months that the other ELT members could not stand her. She inherited and organization with the top engagement scores in the bank and ended with the worst. The Regulators are coming in shortly and have been discussing among themselves how they are going to drop the hammer on Audit. Quite frankly, Audits are not being conducted to provide coverage and the audit department was somehow 10 Million+ over budget due to excess spending on consultants and elevated MD roles. You can get away with being over budget, you can be a pain in the butt to deal with and you can miss getting quality audit work completed. You just can’t do all three at the same time. That is what doomed her and will doom all her Senior MD’s she hired. MAM will most likely be the next domino to fall.

Moore should be the first to be shown the door. The amount of authority she has in the dept. is disproportionate to the impact of the contributions she makes. There is a lot of talks of the “MUFG favoritism, and Moore is the poster child for that dynamic”.

Director of Talent, Succession, Performance & Executive Recruiting…………………………..We have in HR positions such as this. They bring us the DeMaio’s of the world and others when talent within the bank has to leave to get a promotion or sits back and watches as people are brought in from outside and reek havoc on organizations within the bank. One can only assume the BOD has finally allowed the statute of limitations for blaming Kelly and Bible for Truist’s problems to expire and are now holding Bill and his minions responsible for the mess this bank has become. Bill may not like his new downsized board when all is said and done.

Two down (Case, DeMaio) hopefully more to come. One can only hope the search for the next CEO is active and progressing. It’s unlikely since Bill is being allowed to dump the very individuals he put in place. The damage these two have done to organizations that are integral to the operation and regulatory environment is not going to fixed overnight.
