Thread regarding Tesla layoffs

More than 10% layoffs

Apr 15
Over the years, we have grown rapidly with multiple factories scaling around the globe. With this rapid growth there has been duplication of roles and job functions in certain areas. As we prepare the company for our next phase of growth, it is extremely important to look at every aspect of the company for cost reductions and increasing productivity.

As part of this effort, we have done a thorough review of the organization and made the difficult decision to reduce our headcount by more than 10% globally. There is nothing I hate more, but it must be done. This will enable us to be lean, innovative and hungry for the next growth phase cycle.

I would like to thank everyone who is departing Tesla for their hard work over the years. I'm deeply grateful for your many contributions to our mission and we wish you well in your future opportunities.
It is very difficult to say goodbye.

For those remaining, I would like to thank you in advance for the difficult job that remains ahead. We are developing some of the most revolutionary technologies in auto, energy and artificial intelligence. As we prepare the company for the next phase of growth, your resolve will make a huge difference in getting us there.

Thanks,
Elon

Lays chips and soda are largest selling goods..does that mean they are good??..In this EV race more harm than good for US and China. Self Driving is good and it will save lot of lives and time people spend on driving.

To the people who say no one wants an EV, explain why the Model Y is the highest selling car on the planet.

Layoffs are part of any growing company. It’s hard to predict growth rates. Sometimes you under-hire. Sometimes you over-hire. It happens.

Just following suit of every other tech company overexuberance and trying to grow too fast overhiring and empire building within. The cool factor of EV early adoption is over. EV is not the silver bullet that will solve global warming etc. Just another shell game pushed by government for control of movement since with a few keystrokes every vehicle can be disabled instantly. The only solution to save the planet is growth goes to zero but nobody in 1st world is going backwards in lifestyle and emerging markets are not going to stop trying to catch up to the 1st world. But Tesla has avoided death before lets see if they can pull it off again. Only caveat is Elon is on the cancel list and not golden boy of the left anymore.
