I would also like to know what areas (especially IT in California) were impacted. I was let go late last year. Our VP (who hired me), was let go in the summer (2023). I also started noticing emails from Optum IT staff in India and the Philippines regarding various IT services, such as asset management. Optum does have a presence (and website) in India. Also, we were informed that we could no longer use various agencies for contractors and that Optum was going to a sole source model (Wipro, an India based company). The transition was very challenging. The quality of candidates was not up to par on what we had with the other agencies (i.e. Randstad). The contract rates were higher as well, which did not make any sense. Our current contractors were left in limbo as we would not renew their agreements and we were told NOT to encourage them to apply with Wipro as there were SLA's (with the other agencies) which we could get into legal trouble with. Our Team invested time and effort to align these contractors to our IT processes and services. They were (are) good people. In fact, before the fiscal tightening began, we were working on bringing them in as full time Optum employees. During this time, Optum was still on a aquisition spree of clinics and physician practices, especially in the Pacific Northwest. These areas did not have the resources or capacity to implement what was required to be an Optum compliant site (network, endpoints, credit care machines, etc.) So our Team was asked to assist, which my staff was very motivated to do, as we already had these processes in place for acquisitions we peformed in California. I had a wonderful IT Team at Optum. They worked very hard on day to day operations, clinic aquisitions, moves and projects. Our weekly meetings were collaborative and informative. It was their meeting and I let the managers run it. While we could challenge each other on various topics, we did it respectfully. I wish all the various clinical, administrative and IT areas, the best of luck during this unfortunate scenario.
Is IT department affected by this layoff ? Are they moving IT jobs offshore?
So they aren't laying Senior CSM's off. They are bumping them down to Field CSM's with no reduction in pay but no seniority anymore. The problem with this is that when that Senior CSM gets bumped down to Field CSM, that already existing field CSM is pushed out due to overstaffing. The good news is that almost all of the displaced CSM's are being redeployed to other departments but there are still a few that will lose their jobs. That being said, it sounds like there will be a LOT of layoffs tomorrow across the company. The whole situation is just sickening....
They are laying off the senior CSMs in the optum SCC programs and other “redundant” roles or unique positions
The nurses and providers need to unionize
Feel lucky that you are getting out alive and will be able to file for unemployment!!
Good luck!
I've noticed customer service/asr managers are taking pto on 04/18.
If you’re going to say you’ve heard “different things”, share what you’ve heard, please.
Any ideas what departments/positions are being laid off 4/18? I’ve read and heard different things.
Recent layoffs are not done in 1:1 or immediate managers are not even allowed to say anything. What makes you so sure? MAP?
Any ideas what areas of Optum Health?
Sorry to hear this. I hope that you don't have any questions as to why you were selected to be terminated. Your manager, HR and Employee Relations will not give you a straight forward answer. They don't have the backbone to be upfront and transparent as to their actions/reasons.
They don't have the decency to be up front
Can confirm per HR. Good luck everyone. It will be hard, but remember you are MORE than your job and there will be other organizations that value you.
