Are pay period layoffs back again? Anyone got any intel

My manager is already on one of those Low Cost Countries and he has been for several years, he was a ZERO to the left before and less than nothing now if that's possible. I can't remember when I had the last "useful" conversation with him!
Lucky those that have a manager that at least tries to keep you in the loop, I guess I will have to go through this by myself and only find out I'm being layoff the day it happens.
The decision is absolutely made high, high up. My boss fought for me and team. It did no good.
I have to train my replacement AND my team replacements and if I blow it off, it’ll be obvious and I’ll just get fired and get no severance. So fine, I’ll train everyone while also looking for a new job until my end date.
HR has made big mistakes too. People accidentally invited to layoff meetings they shouldn’t have been invited to, breaching privacy. People locked out too early to join meetings. Paperwork hiccups delaying severance. So disrespectful.
I can't speak for every department but I can say that my manager told me they had no input and tried to convince the higher ups how bad the consequences would be to lay off parts of our team.
So at least for my area, the decision was made several levels above my manager.
How do you know when it’s your turn? Any signs besides a random meeting showing up on your calendar? I’m happily waiting for that to show up. I don’t want to be here anymore. Also, who is making the decisions? Will my manager be deciding it or someone higher up?
"Been hearing rumblings now of a mass walkout in protest of the way U.S. workers are being treated at Nielsen."
My entire team of about 40 client facing people at GTIC was told our last day would be May 22. My boss told what's left of our team to just stop doing work. Ignore clients and just ghost everybody, including the offshore replacements we're supposed to train, until our final day.
They’ve been sending members of the BRG’s, GROW and others groups to the unemployment line without regard, so why would anyone think COE winners would be any different?
It’s all a sham, and empty awards by a soulless company. None of it is worth anything anymore.
Even some circle of excellence winners are under the the threat of layoffs and their job moving to a GCC. no one escapes and the fact that Nielsen is acting like nothing is happening is despicable.
Same just waiting for the invite to put me out of this misery already
The pattern has been every 2 weeks/pay week since this started. Just waiting for invite.
Been hearing rumblings now of a mass walkout in protest of the way U.S. workers are being treated at Nielsen. No further training of offshore replacements, the cutting of severances and widespread corporate toxicity.
I for one am aboard if the rumblings progress, so maybe more action on this to come?
Just an odd environment now at Nielsen … ongoing mass layoffs alongside corporate announcements of Circle of Excellence winners. Really?
Can’t believe this is the culture now at Nielsen, as though the company has no self awareness of its actions and toxic culture. Some win awards … while the majority of others win unemployment.
