They eliminated a lot of the managers at the bottom of the hierarchy who actually knew what they were managing and doing

and left all these middle managers who have no clue what the employee duties actually entail.

So while the idea of eliminating the layers of management wasn't really a bad one, the execution ended up leaving the clueless least innovative ones in charge of things they have no idea of and the same guys that have played politics for 20+ years stayed.

Nothing is going to change as far as efficiency, innovation, etc. These people are just there to collect a fat paycheck and act/pretend they're doing something.

Org charts hit Monday, and more Town Halls. Yes, they cut those with years of knowledge, few are left to clean up mess. Good Luck to all on Monday. I will be at the beach.

I agree with the favoritism and nepotism part of it. My team members whom I promoted and developed were taken away from me and given to disrespectful manager who was completely inexperienced and I was let go. I am actually feeling ok and believe that better opportunity is in store but still hurt by the thought that still disgusting people still exist. I am forgiving and moving on and I am sure Karma will take care.

What about a manager who demanded for an exception to continue being a manager despite having less than six direct reports when he is clueless about his work and only a SVP? If one person begins an exception, everyone is gonna ask for exception. Then what is the point of having a six-person policy?

Citi is full of politicians who know how to play the game of survival, not those who are actually capable and willing to innovate and bring about positive change.
