Post ID: @5kly+1s05tgM8 Not really at Citi. At Citi, SVPs are VPs, just Super-duper VPs. SVP is a made up title to keep the salaries low and make the plebeians happy by stoking their egos.
Senior VPs at Citi are like SVPs at the other firms- they have autonomy and management of processes, people, or projects. Typically 10+ years experience and responsible for business results.
Could be a friend of director or someone above but no experience or talent.
C13 VP is IC who leads teams/projects but does not manage people
C14 SVP is " manager of people."
C15 Director is "manager of managers"
An SVP is slightly above VP but below MajorBungholio, which is between ExecFlatulist and MinorColonelPox
I came to Citi from another top investment bank. SVP at Citi corresponds to a relatively fresh VP. Nothing special. It seems like at Citi people stay for only 2 years as associates, then 2 years as VPs and then in their 5th year they become senior VP 😄. In normal banks one stays an associate for 3 years before being bumped to VP.
Just a title for a pay range and usually a manager. Could be brand new or only a few years tenure. Could also have relatively little experience from outside of Citi as long as they managed to get that role.
