Thread regarding VMware layoffs

What should I prepare for my last day?

I am on transition, and my last day will be end of March. Anything I need to do to prepare for it?

I saved all my pay stubs, W2s, bonus letter (already vested), and transition offer letter.

Anything else I need to be aware of or prepare for?

My original transition will be through August, but I was notified that my transition period will be shortened to end of March. I have not received formal HR notice yet.

I too am a (U.S.-based) transition employee who volunteered to move up my exit date to the end of March. I just received a separation agreement via my personal email, outlining all the details of my upcoming exit including an itemized summary of all the elements of my severance. BC will also cover the full cost to continue my insurance for 3 full months following my exit.

A few things I've done now, before I lose access to my BC login and BC systems:

  1. Access the HR Integration Portal, and go to the "Supporting DOcuments" folder. There are many documents here you will want to read and save to your personal laptop for future reference. Among them are instructions on how to return your laptop, how COBRA works, etc.
  1. Log into the ADP portal, and change your ADP profile to list your personal email address, and add your cell phone as an alternate contact method. Mine had been defaulted to my BC email address and did not include my cell phone.
  1. From your personal laptop, configure access to the ADP portal so you can access it from outside of BC's VPN, then bookmark it for easy future reference. Here are the steps to do this:
  • Go to https://my.adp.com
  • Click New User? Create Account....
  • Click I Have A Registration Code
  • Enter the following Registration Code: NewSPG-mypay
  • Enter your Employee ID that appears on your separation agreement (Note: this is NOT your old VMW employee ID)
  • You should then be logged in, and the site will prompt you to set up a user id and PW for future access

Good luck!

Did you make out better than taking the severance?

If you have any outstanding U.S. healthcare benefit payment issues with United Healthcare, then be prepared to become frustrated. Since I left VMware they have been the source of much frustration as they continue to deny coverage for routine procedures.

In the US, prep for next year's W-2s. Make sure you select Email and mail delivery for next year.

I was also notified this morning that my transition date will be brought forward to March the last Friday in March. No explanation from my manager as to why except that it was a company decision and Hock wants to get the transition employees out as soon as possible and moving my date up to March will save the company from paying 7 months of salary and I'm not the only one being brought forward. Haven't received any letter from Broadcom either.

“Curious the reason why its was moved up from August?”

Because they view TSAs as for knowledge transfer, and/or as reserves to pull from if they need more heads and are paying a premium for your time. They want you off the books as soon as possible.

In case you have your W2 and your pay stubs you are good to go.
Start dusting your resume and get ready for a very long job hunt process. Job market is slow now and it is crazy hard to find a new job right now but jobs are there, it just takes too long to find one.
Good Luck!!!
