Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

The company is just a shell of what it was

Without question, the company is just a shell of what it was. There may be good pockets but overall it's been on a downhill slide for 10 years now. If you're invested through years of service you may decide to hang on but for anyone younger and possessing a decent skill set Enbridge is no longer a preferred employer in my opinion. Find an employer that values its employees. As for Enbridge moving forward, it is likely to be more of the same. The present culture would take years to change and given the lack of growth in the industry, the first thing leadership will turn to is continued cost-cutting. Barring a stunning change of leadership philosophy the company many of us knew is gone.

An on point post from @vsx+1rmWTySF.

A shell that is broken. And cannot see it ever being repaired.
Morale is plummeted.
A lot of very pissy people here on front lines now that just don’t give a f**k !

I can only speak for liquids pipelines (LP). The trouble started when Al Monico took over the CEO role and appointed a president of LP that came from an accounting role in the gas division. At that point it became about money and nothing else. Compounding the problems was a directive that saw promotions based on factors other than merit. I think Greg Ebel is a much better CEO but it’s going to hard to fix the damage done in LP. There are many good leaders in LP but there is some real incompetence in key roles holding us back. We pushed some excellent people out the door over the last 5 years and it’s going to hard to recover from that.

Enbridge leadership is exactly what the US Dept of Justice once said, and I quote: “incompetent”

Very well said. Layoffs to balance the books, giving annual merit increase and then taking back 3% leaving some with a negative increase, and the flattening of the Organization and many more examples make it a horrible place to work. Younger workers beware and don’t expect to be valued and treated with respect by senior management if they need to make more profit or compensate for big expenditures. Just a number.
