Thread regarding Northwestern Mutual layoffs

Absolutely devastated over the end of The Week-End. How else are we supposed to know that the SLT is filled with out-of-touch figureheads with little connection to what’s happening on the ground? Where else am I going to hear about the vineyard our boss‘s boss just bought while learning about the next round of layoffs? Where will I get to see people try their absolute best to convince their underlings that they are, in fact, _very cool_?

All of NM's people leaders had a Leadership Exchange last week, where they are supposed to have transparent conversations with members of SLT and ELG. I thought they would bring up morale but all the speakers did at the meeting is pat themselves on the back and throw out buzzwords and talk about how AI is going to change our company.

Someone bravely spoke during Q&A and mentioned they were not being given resources to properly support their people, the ELG speaker responded "that hasn't been my experience" and offered to continue to the conversation offline.

You would think they would have gone out on a high note since they had months to figure out proper answers to the questions asked, yet the weekend of just the classic we keep saying words but there is no weight to them until they are tired of hearing their own voice

The decision to end The Weekend shows just how two-faced they both were. Nothing but a phony front as usual. If he can't talk to his own team how did he expect to talk to policyholders? I see why he didn't get the CEO job.

Honestly im not shocked
SLTs dont have time for the little people anymore or actually answer the questions asked because its all about the same thing. Are we getting fired/offshored? Why cant the pay be better? What is with all the terrible decisions and the reason behind it? Instead of answering these. Just get rid of the platform thats the easier solution.
