Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Most of this forum is BS...

A post a month or so ago claimed that the raise "buckets" were dogshit. Well I got a 12% raise today.

A lot of the "rumors" here do end up being true or semi-true but I've been following this forum for years now and all the layoff scares have 100% so far exclusively applied to sales/PR/Marketing/HR or other non specialized roles. All I can say is that I've been here for 6 years and the biggest layoff I remember is when Covid FIRST hit. September of 2020 was a bloodbath.

I knew of ONE person who was let go and that's it. Then again, I work in Cyber and we pretty much don't ever get touched for WFR. My friend was in Sales and his department was sla-ghtered constantly. He was let go last year.

75% of this board is straight up bullsh-t though lol

Congratulations for openly being underpaid and confirming a cost of living adjustment. Go team cyber!

I don't recall anyone saying no one in the company ever gets a raise or bonus. You just confirmed there have been layoffs which many of the posts claim. What specifically do you think is BS? You seem to confirm most of the posts. Lots of people get laid only a small few enjoy working at Dell.

There’s a default % based on location, this can be changed by the manager but in doing so they are robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Managers get a bucket of funds that equal a certain %. In years past it was 2.8% or 3.4% or whatever. That money is then distributed to the team. Some managers peanut butter spread it evenly. Some don’t. Sometimes HR gets involved and says someone is paid too far under market average and that person needs a significant bump. I think that happened to you.

12% isn't unheard of. If you're at the bottom of a salary band then it's quite easy get a 12% raise

I call BS on you. You must have been severely underpaid compared to your other team members to get 12% raise

in order to get that your manager would have to justify all the way up even to HR

OP there is a pool of $ your manager pulls from for their team. The workday tool loaded a default # of 4% into each FTE. Your manager would have need to reduce others by several % each just to make your 12%. Unless you are making >50k which if you're in Cyber is most likely not the case.

Post a screen cap of your award statement showing just the %. Otherwise I call BS on your 12%.
