It’s hard to be motivated.
We are told to, think outside the box, automate, work smarter not harder, simplify things,
remove excessive layers, mitigate risk etc…
Then we, cut back on staff, complicate steps with more processes, demand to do more with less, don’t spend money but get what you need ahead of time, and shorten deadlines.
All the while, knowing that we are all subject to the result of some number cruncher making decisions based off of an excel spreadsheet formula being ran. If you are lucky and don’t get cut, then you have to pick up the slack for those that are let go which means even more hours per day.
The real morale booster though is getting 1% raise while Jane gets 6% because you know, she really needs it for a job well done.
So, yeah, motivation is out the window.
