Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Leftovers are sc--wed

Those looking for jobs after the last layoff action are severely sc--wed.
One, the job market is a train wreck and there are more qualified candidates than the shitrix rubble.
Two, recruiters and potential companies are looking down on people that clinged on to a sinking ship in hopes of receiving a severance. This is looked upon very unfavorably and almost gets shitrix applicants immediately disqualified.
So, if you stuck it out as a cling-on and as a leftover you hoped for a severance, you are sc--wed.
Might as well look at golfing in motorhome communities going forward.

Whoa! I have had a couple of interviews so far where the interviewer asked me why I would leave such a "large and successful" organization. Clearly they have not been paying attention. I haven't accepted them due to lowball offers, just for the record.

Point is, to think people are looking down on us is absurd.

Let's start with the fact that ALL big IT Orgs are laying off massive amounts of people in the last 2 years. The market is saturated to the point where 400 applicants are going for the same job. So don't think people aren't trying to leave, but if you are still getting a paycheck? I doubt any potential manager or recruiter would look down on that. More aptly they would ask: "why did Citrix let you go and not the person that "clinged on."

Next, as mentioned up above, EVERYONE is laying off their staff. You aren't safe anywhere. So what makes Broadcom any safer than Citrix? What makes VMware any safer? What makes Microsoft, Amazon ? Working at Citrix is honestly just as safe as anywhere else at the moment.

We have companies reporting "record profits" and yet laying off 12,15, even 20%. What you should be putting your energy into is why that is and whether or not you are even safe where you are now.

Don't judge people for choosing to take care of their families over working for a sh-t company. People do it every day.

Job market is rough now for IT professional. Even tough receiving many interviews it is still hard to get a job.

Sad. Obviously Citrix was smart to let you go.

Uh, I can guarantee not one recruiter is going to pass over someone's resume because they "clinged to a sinking ship in hopes of receiving a severance". First of all, the overwhelming majority of us don't work ANYWHERE hoping for or banking on a f*cking severance. We work to provide for ourselves and our families. Second, I've literally never met a recruiter in 30 years of working in tech that asked me "oh, did you stay there hoping to get a severance?" Probably most of the frontline recruiters in tech literally don't know who Citrix even IS, and if they do, they don't hold the same grudge against it that you do.
