Voluntary Layoff

Is voluntary layoff possible? Anyone has done it already succesfully? What severance is planned for voluntary layoffs.

Not for NA. Might be option for Germany as there is no option for layoff.

They're doing "voluntary buyouts" or something like that in Germany, but yeah, they can't do layoffs this time per the workers council. I expect you'll only see that buyout option where they can't lay people off.

Voluntary layoff, a fancy word for "quitting"

Define “Voluntary Layoff” please? If you volunteer to get laid off even though you’re not on the hit list, isn’t that called quitting?
I’ve never heard of this term before.

I would not pin my hopes on voluntary layoffs. In 2023 NA layoffs, it was asked if a senior colleague could volunteer to be let go in order to spare those less senior. The idea was immediately dismissed.
