Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Update EMEA - Poland

At Citibank Europe Polska the current proposals affect 485 roles (less than 7% of our employment).

For some people, this means a change in role or a proposal to take on a new role. For some it may mean leaving the firm. These are difficult decisions, because we are talking about potentially saying goodbye to talented colleagues we have been working with for many years.

However, I can promise you that where this is the case, we will ensure that this process is based on mutual respect, support and trust.

Collective process
Due to the number of positions that will be affected by the change, we are opening a collective process at Citibank Europe Polska and are beginning discussions with the Trade Union.

Next steps
After consultations, that will start today and last for 20 days, we can officially open discussions with individuals affected by the change.

I know this creates a lot of uncertainty and you will have many questions.

There was an anouncement last year about hiring 5000 people in India.
'India is the obvious choice' says Citi Group CEO Jane Fraser at the Citi Investor Conference 2024 while talking about India as a key beneficiary in the shift of global supply chains, noting its competitive edge due to its large scale, cost-effectiveness, and quality.

I thought Warsaw was fairly safe since it's a low cost location ?? Why do you think Citi laidoff people in Warsaw ? At least Poland just like other European countries have a Trade Union or stronger employee protections than the USA.

Currently in Poland there is a chaos among workers and many people are looking for new positions. Even though they might not be fired still many people plans to go because in some departments workload is huge due to hiring freezes in past 6 months. IMO Citibank is badly managing this process.

"APAC is rockstar. Less cost no layoff. It’s going to grow"

Firstly, please have some common decency on a thread discussing 485 roles being impacted (some of which will result in job loss). These are people, with families who could very well depend on them.

Secondly, "less cost"? You including Singapore in that statement?
