If you go for the exception, expect a target on your back. Lower raises, lower stock, you will be fired/let go sooner than anyone else. Just realize what you are trading for if you do this.

Every business unit allows their GM to have 25% of their work force to work from home. As long the business unit is within that percentage you only need GM approval and you are set. Folks with deep technical knowledge that are hard to replace are the ones that are given this option if requested more easily. This is common knowledge flexibility Hock gives to the GMs but he never discusses it publicly.
