Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

From what I know, our store wihich is on your “list”, is a small store and formerly known as a “neighborhood” store, is kick’n ar-e in beating TY v.s.LY. Not saying that we’ll make the cut going forward but as far as 2024 we’re safe.

I don't feel bad that Namdar got sc--wed over but I do feel bad for Logan Valley Mall. So many great memories growing up there.

Re: Altoona. Namdar/Mason offered them a lease of $1/month to try to keep them there and prevent further decay of the mall as a while. Macy's declined. Expect a closing announcement sometime before May.

The Arkhouse deal could delay some owned locations from closing. However, Logan Valley is leased. Arkhouse won't save that one.

What about considering stores? Is it 150 or something else?

This is not the list of the closing stores. While there are many that are on the closing list, that are also many that are not. Not sure were the poster got this list from, but it's not the closing store list.

How does commenter know Altoona, PA store will close?

Sunrise is going to be Aparments and they are keeping that Macy's. Galleria Roseville is now one of the stores that they will invest in.

Don't forget Pacific View Mall in Ventura California. Loser store in a dying mall. I know. I work there.

Logan Valley (Altoona) and Wyoming Valley (Wilkes-Barre) are on the confirmed closing list.

This list seams to be an old list of the neighborhood stores from a few years back . I don’t see 150 doors listed ? How accurate is this ?

I didn't see Sunrise Mall in Citrus Heights, CA as one of the underperforming stores. It is in a dead mall and it was listed as one of the neighborhood stores and is near another Macy's store, Galleria at Roseville. Is it doing better than I think??

Wesley Chapel was listed twice in the list two replies down. Was there another store in Florida??

Many locations that are closing are in smaller markets, like Springfield IL or Lafayette IN. These markets will be a priority for new small format stores to come in as replacements, as the nearest go-forward store is 60+ minutes away.

There are going to be some higher-performing stores that shutter simply due to the real estate. Could see them moving some stores around too.
