Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Quick RTO Poll - Staying Remote or going Hybrid?

I'm staying remote but I'm actively looking for another opportunity. This heavy handed and poorly executed directive is my last straw. The lack of raises and lack of corporate vision has lead me to want to go elsewhere.

Out of 13-15 people I talked to only 2 are talking about hybrid. In 6 months 10 of those people will be on the street looking for jobs that dont exist.Good luck

Out of 13-15 people I talked to only 2 are talking about hybrid.

The ones who are confident they can find a role elsewhere and are genuinely very good workers are going remote. The ones who you question how they ever got into Dell are going hybrid as they fear trying to find another job.

I personally see a manager only being allowed set x % of team members remote.
I also have a feeling if they want to keep you at a point in time (layoff talks) you might get a heads up to go hybrid.

Fwiw I enjoy my Job at Dell and will be going remote.

I’ve been remote for 14 years. I can’t imagine driving 1 1/2 hours one way to be in an office that has ZERO of my coworkers. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.

Almost my entire team is going remote. As others have said, there is so little upside to do hybrid.

I am just waiting for them to see that most people choose remote and have to scramble to a new policy making harsher requirements. we'll see. I know we may not ever get access to it, but id really like to see the percentage between hybrid/remote once this is all over.

@1dzc+1rgvzqqP They 100% want people to throw in the towel.
It could not be more obvious.
Its a complete sh-t show.

"manager is telling me not to."

all managers were given the script to be very pro-hybrid.
"make them an offer they can't refuse" script

Hybrid for 2 years. Then in 3rd year show up 26 days a quarter. Just enough to get on a WFR list.

If no WFR in 3rd year. Just stop showing up to office. Until let go.

Most hybrids will be in the 55+ age group. the ones who hope for that last stretch to retirement.

I suspect remote will be in the 40% range. Maybe even higher.

Really no upside on hybrid. they will cut where the most expensive employees are regardless.

Remote. No chance I'm going hybrid.

Promotions impacted? It's not like they throw them around anyway. You can work your fingers to the bone and the person beside you who has done the same gets the reward (and rightly so) because there's such a limited pool to work with.

If I have to put in a 15-20 hour commute as well each week then forget it. "Promote" some other schmuck.

Remote. Nearest office is 100s of miles away. Never been assigned to an office.

Remote. I moved across the country 3.5 years ago when they told us we could be permanent WFH if we wanted, and I’m not relocating. Just lay me off already.

Remote. Have no choice as they closed my office and didn't reopen it. It's ridiculous that they frame it as us "choosing" to opt for remote, and punishing us for it, when for many there is no choice given a lack of an office to return to. How this is being rolled out is a giant F you to Dell employees. There's not even a forum to ask a bloody question or get clarification. They leave it up to direct managers to deal with it, without providing them much to go on...it's pathetic and poor leadership from the executive team.
