I heard someone is building an alternative. Already secured funding and going full force.

But what everybody needs to understand is that the strategy here is to have a highly profitable niche business with virtually no competition

That's the playback. So, please don't act surprised if that's what you are observing.

💯 agree with you there. They know what they are doing and they are running their playbook.

I don’t have to like it but it’s happening. Sad part is good technology will die, may be the good part is some thing like ProxMoX or maybe even Nutanix will do better now that there is an increase in people looking for alternatives.

Nutanix should have gone bust years ago. The fact that they are still here has more to do with their financiers than with their products.

Nutanix is a joke. They spread FUD in hope to steal a few customers but once customers are onboarded and see the extend of sh-t Nutanix call their hypervisor, they’ll be running away screaming. Proxmox and XCP-NG are more likely to win than Nutanix has.

Don't underestimate the cost of change. Broadcome doesn't care about losing some customers to Nutanix. Broadcom cares about retaining a few core customers who cannot realistically change horses. That's the model. That's been the model for years. And everybody who was awake for the last 21 months knows that this is the model. It will work again for core vsphere customers.
Carbon Black didn't get a single bidder.
EUC is on the way out.
Avi is is questionable circumstances and so is Tanzu.

This is Broadcom's model. They are not concerned.

Eliminate the small businesses. Focus on retaining the top spenders. Those companies will not consider smaller providers.

Yes. However the 600 or so customers BC is focused on cannot pivot quickly. The price increase is based on some average time to migrate and will result in profit even if all customers leave.

Math wins again.

they are at a point where there is no turning around, so no point in telling they. Move on and move to one of those technologies and help others to move on.

Soar to see good products go waste but we are here.
