Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

The new multi use phrase at work. “Bora bora” but let’s not forget its true meaning.

I’ve heard Bora Bora used many times in many different ways.

Was your rewards about what you expected? No, the bora bora affect kicked in, so not so much.
Moral is at Bora Bora level 2.
Be careful or you’ll be Bora Bora‘d out of here.
I’m taking a Bora Bora day off. (meaning you are burned out and are taking off due to low morale)
The budget has been Bora Bora‘d. (meaning, no money. Its been placed aside for Jane’s raise)
They are on Bora Bora leave. (meaning not coming back, let go, laid off)

Bora Bora was in reference to the “project” to let people go to save money to make up for lackluster stock performance under Jane’s watch. Yes, its to save money…..EXCEPT for Jane’s raise. You, those let go, you were laid off so that Jane could still get her raise. I mean how else is she going to get paid 26 Million.

Hence, Jane's Wall Street nickname, Jane Boraxe, a combination of Bora Bora and Axe, for the employees who got the Layoff Axe.
