So many of you seem desperately unhappy here. Nobody's forcing you to stay, so why do you?

I joined SAP and have been working entirely on developing for ABAP based system for years.
I have forgotten everything I know about real programming. I'm terrified of having to find a job elsewhere and explain that after 7 years as a developer, I know less than a new graduate about working on Java or C#.
I need to stay at SAP to keep my bills paid.
Sap is benefit rich so lots of protection for my family. Plus I have RSUs
Also I suppose I’ve become somewhat lazy & the thoughts of finding a new job at a new company are a little overwhelming.
I got the magic check last year, got another job the same day, took a slight paycut but I cant be happier. No dealing with the political bunch and no manager trying to show how superior he is. So glad to be away from the akissers.
North America is a sales and consulting org. Germany wants to dismantle the “hq” mentality that Bill as CEO set up in NSQ. No other regional or market unit has a “Newtown square like” set up.
Also, this is the ideal place for a mom or dad with three little kids. Family benefits are insanely good and you don’t have to ki-l yourself. A young talent looking

Not corny at all. People stay with good leaders, not with companies. So if you are in a bubble surrounded by good people, all the more power to you.
This is why people are scratching their heads at how SAP leadership is so seemingly disconnected from reality.
Not to be corny, but the people (not necessarily leaders). I like my team and my manager. Being able to focus on work having to watch my back or feeling micromanaged is freeing. Flexibility is great (may change after RTO). Salary is OK, benefits are decent. I guess I don't want to risk moving to another company and land in a toxic environment cos I've been there and it makes going to work so much harder.
Agree with original post. If unhappy. Go be happy elsewhere. I advised my own son who was miserable here. To leave. Three years at WorkDay and is thriving. People love to help until you fall into a personal pity party
Employees in Germany stay because there is protection and they feel safe. There is no such safety in other at-will employment countries.
I am a technical consultant in Central Europe, working on BTP projects. Each project and customer is unique, different.
Many times I find myself under pressure, but I enjoy the work. I have everything I need for my job, and honestly, I can’t imagine what more (or better) another company could offer me. Layoffs have occurred, are occurring, and will continue to occur; I’m not concerned. I do my best and refuse to stress about being laid off. If it happens, I’ll look for another job, but not now.
Why am I staying? Because I like working here and I have challenging tasks at hand that I like solving (I am in BTP). Great coworkers. As a T4, good pay. And being based in Germany, I still consider my job fairly safe.
Over 20 years although too young to retire early 50’s. Have no desire to start over in a new company.
