Thread regarding VMware layoffs

RIP To The Cork Office

Many exceptional employees, engineers and team-mates left over the last day or 2. What's gonna happen with support especially? Seems like there's nobody experienced left.

There are actually good few remaining experienced employees left, however the remaining one are really gonna feel the pinch. Its not going to be easy to fill the shoes of the ones that are left. Be prepared for less exceptions, no more babysitting customers. Its going to be very much self-service support going ahead, no more remote sessions unless its needed, if you provide instructions to a customer they will 100% be expected to carry that out themselves without any vmware help. Thats how it has to be for now considering the staffing levels.

I don't think we should namedrop execs - they made the same decision we did, so it tells you nothing other than it was a great offer - they were both employee representatives that process should have made it clear to you who they are.

There's plenty of exceptional support engineers still in Cork. I was fortunate to have worked alongside them.
