Meeting Makeover Initiative

What is the main intention or purpose of this?

Is it to boost overall morale? Or just trying to make people productive and that is that?

It’s a way for HR to justify their jobs without really solving the problem.

Here’s an idea about solving the meeting problem: have fewer meetings.

With RTO, the people in the office can't do hours of back to back meetings like they could when they were working at home. The meeting makeover initiative is an accommodation so they can make it from one conference room to the next and slip the occasional bio-break in.

"Meeting makeover initiative" is the ideal project for HR to sound important and keep their jobs, while not doing much.

That's the "intention or purpose"

I thought the announcement was rather clear. Hopefully people will follow vs dropping meeting invites on my calendar without agenda that at least provides an understanding in advance whether my participation is actually required. I've been invited to several, especially since hybrid, that I walk out of thinking why the he-l did I need to be on that call.

It's to keep you focused on something other than all the layoff and no bonus/pay-rises.
