Thread regarding Adidas layoffs

Nike layoffs = time to hire good talent

Nike layoffs section on this website looks brutal and might be good opportunity for us to scout recent laid off resources that already have the right experience

Not only does adi pay less than nike but there is virtually no room for career growth. Not to mention a significant number of people who have secured a role well beyond their talents, who stay there forever because they know they won’t get on anywhere else. No open roles means no promotions.

@4ass+1raJdvhY, can confirm, it’s more than a 25k paycut. Nike pays about 30% more than adi, plus usually always pay our bonus.

@5vtb+1raJdvhY having worked at both Nike and Adidas, and looking at Nike's balance sheet, their margins are still the best in the industry and their revenue is more than the next 5 competitors combined (seriously, add it up).

Nike never just "realigns" strategically like Adidas does. They pivot their investments and cut roles to do it. If they were having such headwinds they were in trouble, they wouldn't have so many open roles while going through layoffs.

Doesn’t matter. We don’t have any immediate big hiring plans. Nike people often struggle to find footing at adidas. Flat out, it’s harder.

@2gjg - all the public comments from Nike would say otherwise. Nike’s earnings call signaling SERIOUS headwinds, and promised billions of savings through the restructure. They would not cut our headcount so deep if they could merely re-align strategically.

For either of these brands, it’s easy enough to find pockets of truth internally to celebrate, but it’s a different story when you have to face the inventors and explain results.

Adidas needs to figure out how to pay us more. A $25k pay cut isn’t going to convince nike people to replace all of their clothes and commute from the suburbs.

They actually are in much better shape Margin, revenue and growth wise than adi. Nike is shifting strategy and resources, not laying off because they’re in trouble

I was told once adidas doesn’t like to hire Nike talent because they don’t know how to get things done without throwing money at it. adidas employees tend to be more creative to do more with less.

Adidas is OBSESSED with Nike from top to bottom, inside and out, and will lap up any opportunity to take seconds from Nike. JLO.
From the looks of it, they aren’t in any better shape than adi, aside from market share. Why would anyone leaving Nike want* to go to adidas???
(Respectfully, to those who have been laid off recently, wish you all luck and better opportunities)
It shouldn’t take a grim reaper, psychologist, or scientist, to just hire the right talent, invest in those who have invested in the brand, respect internal/external culture, and make good product.

What a brutal and ghoulish post. Give the folks over there space to process. And, the talent at adidas is already top notch

Ideally we hire the talents that bring the best skillsets and mindset for the job. Does not matter from where. Also other industries have great people and will benefit us by bringing new and unexpected insights. Worth to be trained on our adidas values.
