OP on “wherewithal Of consulting group” - it’s evident the leaders are managing by the seat of their pants. They only focused on short term gain and not set forth on strategy that is conducive to long term sustainability. It’s an easy playbook by C level to ensure building up their stock options/bonuses. Look at who they surrounded with? Technology head embraced outsourcing/offshoring, CFO improper 401k investment lead to class action, Head of HR deceptive RIFs, Head of Compliance going along with out of compliance paying millions without risk mitigation in place…. Who allowed this? They should all be fir$d!! AW set the tone and rewarded those aligned with all the unethical practices… Karma has its magic!!

I have seen poorly negotiated vendors contracts but was told not to “interfere” to slow things down!, It all boiled down to GR$$D!,

maybe there is good tax write off options since paying is a loss. One has to be a complete mo--n to think payment gonna stop the sale of data since no way to verify data has not been replicated ever

Do these execs not have the wherewithal to consult proper opsec channels or something? I thought I heard that they hired some consultancy group? I could be wrong on that. But if that's the case, they should request a refund. This is just incompetence consulting incompetence to the point it's mind boggling. The d-mbest thing you can ever do is to concede and pay off ransomware attackers. No matter how bad the breach is, you DO NOT PAY.

Poor leadership - basic concept how many copies of 4TB CIS data can you replicate? The demand is only the beginning not the end. Sadly consumers and staffs paid the price. Execs walked away with golden parachutes.

It’s obvious the top chief never thought of the need to strategize prevention - strengthening technology infrastructure vs instant gratification of the self serving stock options/bonuses.

How many more groups will UHG have to pay off? This is why you don't negotiate with te------ts. They probably just sell off 'proof' to any group wanting in on the action.
Poor leadership.

Disgust is a protective instinct. A mechanism. Your use of disgust is built on Moral Disgust. Individual Morality in your case. Time to go earn my worth.

It has been written of since Plato and Socrates - Envy is more corrosive and harmful than greed.

Chairman just netted 85 million selling stocks. 450 million in the stock bank. Hackers are asking for pennies compared to the kind of money executives are used to.
