Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

13,000

"So, have you heard about this trend of laying off 13,000 people? I mean, what's the deal with that? Are they trying to set some kind of record? It's like, 'Hey, let's see how many people we can let go in one fell swoop!' And then they probably have a zoom invite "business update" about it like, 'Alright, folks, we're gonna need to downsize... by the size of a small town!' It's like a reverse lottery, you know? Instead of winning a million bucks, you get a pink slip and a 'good luck out there!' I tell ya, it's a tough world out there when getting fired feels like winning a consolation prize!"

They are laying off my husband after over 20 years of working for them. Anyone that is over 55, I would watch it. Level 9 and 10's are gone. They don't care about loyalty or longevity even though my husband worked his butt off for them. He's so close to retirement but they don't care. His resume is solid and former military, hoping we find something quick for him. AI is going to be the new standard. He had an offer from a customer that wanted him back in December but they said no wait till the beginning of the year. They knew they were getting rid of him. They refused to let him switch positions. They want to fatten their wallets and put the young in so that way they can pay a lower wage but work you twice as much! Be forewarned all you young workers. They are sc--wing you over. I will never buy a Dell computer again!

This seems a bit ridiculous, how will they find so many people to PIP, considering that almost everyone got a merit increase this year? Clear invitation for law suits.. Massive layoff that I can believe, but 13K people on PIP is a bit much

It will be communicated only to the 13000 being let go, it is meant to be hush hush so not everyone will get the email. At least this is the information my high contact gave me

This is confirmed sadly, my high contact let this slip in our one on one. Apparently they will be firing a minimum of 13000 on April 15th. This is to help boost our business model. The plan is to place the employees on a PIP so they don’t have to pay severance. I was told not to tell anyone so keep this on the down low. She also mentioned the cuts would mainly be in India and the US. Stay safe all

"Dell could lay off 13,000 people and the business would remain the same."

Like my stomach, Dell over the last 4 decades has gotten bloated. Dr. Bain for my health advises me to loose a little around the middle. I'll cut out the obvious, sugar and carb based foods from my diet. I'll lose a few pounds but my middle is still soft. I'm ignoring the fact that I am a couch potato. I don't innovate but instead chose to lay around and watch others do.

Dell could lay off 13,000 people and the business would remain the same. This is what happens when leadership has no skill and refuses to innovate. Buzz words and hype won't cover a no-skill workforce. Learn some real skills while the no skill jobs evaporate. Immigrants will end up with most of the skilled labor jobs because everyone is relying on hype and buzzwords to stay employed.
