Embarrassed, ashamed, and fired....

We've learned nothing from the Roz Brewer debacle. As a society, let's stop celebrating and elevating individuals because they are of a certain race or gender. Let's celebrate and elevate individuals because of their achievements. This insanity has to stop. As Roz did as the CEO, Jan has failed Walgreens as a Board member repeatedly over the last several years. Yet organizations such as NACDS feel the need to recognize her for what, "value creating"??? Look at the stock value for Walgreens! The stock is now trading at levels not seen for 25+ years!!! Does anyone actually validate the basis for giving out these type of awards? What value has Jan created for Walgreens as a Board member?! The answer is None!!!

To be clear, No Board member for Walgreens should be recognized....they should ALL be embarrassed, ashamed, and fired.

This board is terrible. Some members simply should be embarrassed and leave because of the others. Some are simply inept, unqualified, and have zero interest in the company - they only want the position for their resume (eg Babiak and Jarret)

Jan Babiak, Valerie Jarret, Stefano Pessina, the entire Board all need to go. They have let this ship sink. No class, no contribution, no value. Leave or fire them!!!!

This Board has tainted every Board by showing they really don't care about the company or its employees. They simply want to elevate and celebrate themselves. They've literally sat back and watch this company implode. They could influence and stop certain things...many of which might have made a huge difference. Hiring Roz, Hsiao (who was rumored to have been interviewed by maybe one person before being hired, acquiring VillageMD, etc. Boards can make a difference. This one simply chooses not to......we see so many executives let go in the news these days for failing at their jobs. The same need to start happening with token/absent/ Board members!

Brittain Ladd, LinkedIN Article, September 3, 2023:

"I was also told that, "Pessina hired Rosalind Brewer as a way to get the U.S. Government off of his back." Walgreens continues to face many legal troubles related to the opi--d epidemic and the company's role in filling millions of prescriptions which made the epidemic worse. Walgreens is also facing issues related to their relationship with Theranos. Supposedly, members of the Biden administration agreed to back off pursuing more severe charges against Walgreens in exchange for what can only be described as a commitment by Pessina to make the company more woke and increasing the number of diversity hires inside Walgreens."

"They do create value for somebody." Short-sellers of WBA stock comes to mind.

They do create value for somebody. For the Walgreens' employees and shareholders, it is negative value. For whoever is on the other side of the equation, there is quite a lot to gain.

The system is an eyewash. Generations change, attitudes shift - from mostly white male dominated boards, they tweaked to DEI-compliant baords, maybe it'll be something else in the future - to conform with prevailing societal norms/expectations.

What will never change (or has never changed) is GREED. These people who sit on these boards don't give a rat's back side worth of concern for employees or the bottom-line workers.

How much is the board really invested in Walgreens anyway? Isn't serving on the board more of a side gig where you meet a few times a year and collect a nice check for your input and "expertise"? I would expect most board members are pretty out of touch with day-to-day operations of the company.
